In an alarming turn of events, the culmination of what many are calling a cruel twist, the degrees of students from Sahiwal University hang in the balance, as the Higher Education Commission (HEC) refuses to validate their hard-earned accomplishments. This development has ignited a wave of anger and concern among the affected students and their families, prompting calls for immediate intervention.

Despite successfully passing their exams, Sahiwal University graduates have been left in a state of uncertainty, as the HEC has yet to recognize their degrees. This administrative conundrum has raised serious questions about the integrity and reliability of the education system in the region.

In 2005, Bahauddin Zakariya University, Multan (BZU), under the inauguration of the then Punjab Governor, established a sub-campus in Sahiwal. A significant development occurred in 2015 when the Provincial Assembly of Punjab passed legislation that elevated the sub-campus to the status of a fully-fledged university, officially naming it the University of Sahiwal. This declaration was revealed after those students took admission thinking it was Bahauddin Zakariya University and now face the challenge of HEC not recognizing their degrees.

The plea for action has grown louder, with demands for Federal Education Minister and Education Secretary to take swift notice of the situation. Concerned individuals argue that the futures of these students are at stake, and their academic achievements must not be undermined due to bureaucratic hurdles.
