How Many Animals Will Be Sacrificed On Eid Ul Adha In Pakistan?

The Pakistan Tanners Association has announced that around 6.8 million animals will be sacrificed in Pakistan for this year’s Eid-ul-Azha. This total includes 2.8 million cows, 3.3 million goats, 165,000 buffaloes, and 99,000 camels. The estimated value of the skins from these animals is about Rs6 billion.

Cow skins are anticipated to contribute Rs4.29 billion, with each valued at Rs1,500. Goat skins are estimated to add Rs1.4025 billion, with each skin worth Rs425.

After undergoing chemical processing, the hides are projected to have a total value of Rs18 billion. If processed further into leather products like shoes, their value could increase to Rs35 billion.

Given the high cost of animals this year, many people may opt for shared sacrifices. Nevertheless, the economic impact of the sacrificial hides remains substantial.
