Huawei plans to train 200,000 Pakistani students to expand its investment in the mobile unit

Chinese tech giant Huawei has unveiled a training program for 200,000 Pakistani students as part of its Mobile Unit Investment Plans, signaling a significant step in bilateral cooperation. The announcement was made during Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif’s visit to China, where both nations signed 32 memorandums of understanding (MoUs) to bolster trade and investment.

During his visit, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif led a delegation of 100 businessmen to explore opportunities for enhancing bilateral trade and investment. Among the agreements reached, a cooperation pact in Information Technology (IT) and cloud services was notable. Under this agreement, Huawei, a prominent player in the technology sector, will provide training to 200,000 Pakistani students and has expressed keen interest in further investment in its mobile unit within Pakistan.

Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif visited Huawei’s headquarters in Shenzhen, where he received a warm welcome from Huawei Chairman Liang Hua. The visit included a tour of Huawei’s exhibition center, where Sharif was acquainted with the company’s global operations, with a particular focus on its activities in Pakistan.

During the visit, Huawei’s Chairman expressed strong interest in expanding investments across various sectors in Pakistan, a sentiment echoed by Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, who lauded Huawei’s innovative approach and encouraged further investment in the country. The exhibition center showcased various sectors, including e-governance, digital banking, and telecommunications, highlighting Huawei’s diverse portfolio and its potential to contribute to Pakistan’s technological advancement.

As part of the cooperation agreement, Huawei will train 200,000 students in Pakistan, emphasizing its commitment to nurturing local talent and promoting digital literacy. Additionally, Huawei has shown interest in expanding its investment in mobile manufacturing in Pakistan, as well as exploring opportunities in electric bikes, advanced agriculture, and fintech sectors.

The collaboration between Huawei and Pakistan reflects a shared vision for fostering innovation, technological development, and economic growth, signaling a promising future for bilateral relations in the technology sector.
