Identify Fake Rs. 5,000 Notes: Quick Guide

The State Bank of Pakistan (SBP) has released an informative video guiding individuals on the identification of counterfeit Rs. 5,000 notes. This initiative comes in response to concerns expressed by the Senate Standing Committee on Finance regarding the rising prevalence of fake currency.

Originally posted on YouTube by SBP in 2018, the video provides comprehensive instructions for recognizing the key security features inherent in genuine Rs. 5,000 notes and discerning fake ones. The central bank highlights that authentic notes of this denomination feature a Pakistani flag printed with optically variable magnetic ink.

For the benefit of visually impaired individuals, the notes include raised marks. Furthermore, a protective thread (silver dashes) is situated on the left side, revealing the legal value of the note when exposed to ample light. Noteworthy are the lemon green designs and minuscule fibers intricately embedded in the paper, visible under ultraviolet light.

Additional hidden figures and distinct watermarks contribute to the ease of distinguishing between genuine and counterfeit notes. A comprehensive image accompanying the information delineates all the crucial elements to check when verifying the authenticity of a note.

It is important to note that the challenge of counterfeit currency in Pakistan is not a recent phenomenon; it has persisted for an extended period.
