Imran Declares Election Result Buries 'May 9 Narrative'

Imran Khan, the founder of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI), reiterated his demand for accountability for those responsible for the riots on May 9, echoing the sentiments expressed in the statement released by the Corps Commanders’ Conference, as announced by ISPR the previous day.

The top military commanders, in their meeting, reaffirmed their commitment to ensuring that those involved in planning, instigating, abetting, perpetrating, and desecrating martyrs’ monuments, as well as attacking military installations on May 9, 2023, would face justice under the law and Constitution.

Expressing concern over the dissemination of organized misinformation and fake news, the Corps Commanders’ Conference urged the people of Pakistan to remain united and positive, encouraging them to actively participate in the country’s progress and development.

Imran Khan, speaking to the media at Adiala Jail, emphasized the importance of identifying individuals involved in the May 9 incident through CCTV footage, drawing parallels with the apprehension of individuals involved in the Capitol Hill attack in the United States.

Regarding the denial of reserve seats to PTI, Khan criticized it as undemocratic and unconstitutional, drawing parallels with the elections in East Pakistan that ultimately led to the country’s disintegration.

Referring to allegations of election rigging, Khan held the caretaker government and the Election Commission of Pakistan responsible, urging for a thorough audit of four constituencies to address concerns of rigging.

Khan dismissed accusations of accepting slavery and reiterated his commitment to political stability for a prosperous Pakistan. He highlighted the failure of the narrative surrounding the May 9 events and emphasized the importance of transparent elections for economic improvement.

Khan reiterated the necessity of a stable government for a stable Pakistan, emphasizing that transparent elections are crucial for achieving this goal.
