India showcased its tennis prowess as it secured a 4-0 victory over Pakistan in the World Group I play-off tie. Following Saturday’s success in singles matches, India continued its dominance on Islamabad’s grass courts.
The Indian duo of Saketh Myneni and Yuki Bhambri outperformed Pakistan’s Aqeel Khan and Muzammil Murtaza in the doubles match with a 6-2, 7-6 victory.
Despite Pakistani player Aisamul Haq Qureshi’s inability to participate due to a hamstring injury, India sealed the victory. Niki Poonacha secured another win for India in the singles, defeating Muhammad Shoaib 6-3, 6-4 in 64 minutes.
This win extends India’s flawless record against Pakistan in the Davis Cup to 8-0. The victorious nations from the play-offs will proceed to the World Group I tie in September, while the losing nations will compete in a World Group II tie.
