JI's Hafiz Naeem Forfeits PS-129 Sindh Assembly Seat

In a surprising move, Jamaat-e-Islami (JI) Karachi chief Hafiz Naeem-ur-Rahman has announced that he will be forfeiting the PS-129 Sindh Assembly seat in favor of the PTI-backed candidate. This decision comes despite Naeem winning the seat himself with 26,296 votes in the recent elections, while the PTI-backed independent candidate Saif Bari secured 11,357 votes.

Speaking at a press conference, Naeem stated that although the Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) had officially declared him the winner, he believed that the results were altered and that Saif Bari actually received more votes.

He clarified that despite his own party securing around 30,000 votes, Saif Bari managed to win the seat with a higher number of votes. In light of this, Naeem expressed his willingness to acknowledge the victory of the PTI-backed candidate and indicated that his party would similarly accept the mandate of MQM-P if they win elections honestly.

However, Naeem did not hold back in criticizing MQM-P, stating that their stance did not contribute to the party’s success in winning seats. He further criticized their electoral performance, suggesting that they even failed to secure a counselor’s seat due to their poor reputation. This decision by Hafiz Naeem-ur-Rahman reflects a rare display of sportsmanship and willingness to prioritize transparency and fair play in the electoral process.
