JUI-F suggests dissolving PDM over caretaker PM consultation

Senior Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam Fazl (JUI-F) leader Hafiz Hamdullah has hinted that the Pakistan Democratic Movement (PDM), which now stands for a coalition of several political parties in Pakistan, may split up.

Hafiz Hamdullah recently voiced is displeasure with the Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) and the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) for negotiating the nomination of the caretaker prime minister without including the JUI-F in the consultation process.

He said that the PML-N and PPP’s discussions over the caretaker prime minister were unofficial because the PDM should be the group that makes the final choice.

Without the assistance of JUI-F leader Fazlur Rehman, the nomination of the interim prime minister would not be acceptable.

Hafiz Hamdullah expressed alarm over the apparent exclusion of JUI-F from the important decision-making process, questioning the need for continued committee meetings if Nawaz Sharif and Asif Ali Zardari had already decided the choices for the caretaker prime minister.

He said that the PDM consultation process on the interim prime minister has not yet started.
