In Lahore, the Crime Investigation Agency has successfully apprehended Abid Boxer, a former police inspector, in Kasur, just days after he managed to escape from police custody by seizing firearms from officers.
Abid, who had a history of involvement in extortion and other serious criminal activities, had eluded capture last week. However, he and his two accomplices have now been apprehended by the Lahore Crime Investigation Agency (CIA).

Subsequently, he was presented before an anti-terrorism court in Lahore, where he was placed under police custody for a period of seven days. The charges against him include extortion, assaulting police officers, and the act of escaping from police custody.
ATC Judge Abhar Gul Khan presided over the case and granted the request for Abid Boxer to be held in police custody for the specified duration.
Multiple cases have been registered against the former police officer, who gained notoriety for his involvement in alleged fake encounters and extrajudicial killings during his tenure. He was accused of wrongfully taking the lives of innocent citizens under the guise of such encounters, and he had purported ties to the then-chief minister, Shehbaz Sharif. Abid’s infamy extended to a high-profile incident involving the kidnapping and mistreatment of the film actor Nargis, during which her hair and eyebrows were forcibly shaved.
