In a significant move towards combating environmental pollution, the Korangi police in Karachi have registered the first case against the dumping of garbage into the Malir River at Causeway Road. The action was taken after a dumper driver named Irfanullah was caught red-handed while disposing of waste into the river during the early hours of Sunday night.

This recent development follows a similar initiative taken by the Lahore High Court (LHC) regarding the disposal of waste. During the court hearing, the judges expressed their disapproval of burning garbage, which is in violation of court orders.
Justice Shahid Karim, while presiding over the case, summoned a detailed report from the CEO of the Lahore Waste Management Board and warned that the official would be held accountable if garbage continued to be burned on the roads.
