KP Plans Direct Route Linking Abbottabad to Hazara Motorway

The government of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa is planning to enhance connectivity by constructing a direct route from Abbottabad city to the Hazara Motorway. The proposal suggests initiating work at the Sherwan Interchange to connect Abbottabad through a tunnel. The provincial government has communicated its request to the federal government for the expansion of the Sherwan Interchange, and the construction of an interchange through a tunnel has been proposed. The project aims to connect various areas, including Abbottabad City, Mansehra, Nathiagali, and the surrounding areas, ultimately reducing traffic congestion in Abbottabad City.

In a meeting held in Abbottabad, officials discussed plans for the Abbottabad BRT project, addressing drainage issues, and fixing road problems near the Hazara Motorway’s end at Peshawar Morr. The meeting emphasized the importance of completing infrastructure projects on time, resolving issues from previous contractors, and investigating any incomplete work. Cleaning drains promptly was identified as a top priority, and a comprehensive strategy for renovating and cleaning all of Abbottabad’s drains was discussed. Officials were instructed to measure every drain and take swift action for redesign in collaboration with Tehsil Municipal Administrations (TMAs).

Furthermore, provincial ministers directed officials to inform the Public Service Commission about vacancies for evening and night shifts in District Headquarters Hospitals (DHQs) and seek the Election Commission of Pakistan’s (ECP) permission to fill these positions. The meeting also addressed matters related to Basic Health Units (BHUs) including Boghar Mang BHU, Kot Najibullah BHU, Dhodial Mental and General Hospital, and Abbottabad Teaching Hospital.
