Latif Khosa: PTI to Persist in Protests Until Mandate Restored

Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) leader Latif Khosa has vowed to continue holding demonstrations until their demand for an audit of election results is met, following the arrest of dozens of PTI workers in Lahore allegedly for violent protests.

Speaking to the media in Lahore, Khosa emphasized that their sole demand is for an audit of the election results to restore their mandate. He demanded the release of PTI founder, leaders, especially female leaders, and workers, who were arrested during the protests.

Khosa alleged that the police had assaulted PTI workers and vowed to register an FIR against them for kidnapping. He questioned the police’s actions and demanded to know on whose orders they were carrying out the arrests.

The veteran politician stated that he himself was detained at a police station for six hours but acknowledged that he was not mistreated. He asserted his status as a sitting Member of the National Assembly (MNA), stating that he could not be arrested without the National Assembly speaker’s permission.

Khosa also refuted the accusations against PTI leader Hafiz Farhat Abbas, claiming that the protests were peaceful and denied any involvement in damaging public property.

Earlier, about 40 PTI leaders and workers were booked under serious charges including terrorism, abduction, interference in public affairs, and harassment, following the protests against alleged rigging in the general elections 2024.

The protests, organized by PTI, were staged across the country, with rallies and demonstrations held in various cities including Rawalpindi, Karachi, Kandhkot, and Tank. The party accuses the government of manipulating election results and stealing PTI’s mandate in the recent elections.
