Wasim Akram, a superstar in Pakistani cricket who earned the moniker “Sultan of Swing” for his unrivalled ability to swing the ball both ways, is 57 today (Saturday), according to News.
On his birthday, he has received a tons of love and well wishes from his enormous fan base. On Twitter, his wife Shaniera Akram also sent a sweet birthday message urging his followers to study his biography.

Shaniera’s tweet began, “A amazing account of your Bhai, the Sultan of Swing. He wished the former cricket player a happy birthday in the second section. Happy birthday, Wasim K. K. Live! A parent, a husband, one of cricket’s all-time greats, and a genuine living legend, she said.
The left-arm bowler, who was born in Lahore on June 3, 1966, began playing for his country at the age of 18 in ODIs in 1984 and made his Test debut against New Zealand the following year.
In his stellar career, the 1992 World Cup champion hauled up 956 international wickets. He grabbed the most wickets, 502, in 356 ODIs as a fast bowler with a top performance of 5/15 and sent 414 batters packing in 104 Tests with best numbers of 7/119.
By taking back-to-back wickets of Allan Lamb and Chris Lewis at a pivotal point in the game, The Sultan of Swing made sure Pakistan would win the 1992 World Cup.
Wasim Akram was named Man of the Match in the championship match and finished with the most wickets in the competition. In all Tests and ODIs, he has achieved two hat-tricks.
In 2003, the legend gave up playing for the international team. He presently associates himself with coaching and commentary for cricket.
