Veteran actor Hina Bayat revisited the backlash she faced for her role in the web series Churails during a conversation with Tabish Hashmi. She explained her thoughtful approach to accepting roles, stating, “If I convince myself to play a character, I don’t regret it.”
Addressing the controversy surrounding Churails, she clarified, “It was a web series for a specific audience. To highlight social issues, one must portray them truthfully.” Her character, Sherry, sparked debate for addressing workplace sexual exploitation, leading to the show’s ban in Pakistan for “indecency.”

Bayat shared how the backlash personally targeted her but maintained, “The One who preserves dignity is above us.” Despite challenges, her passion for acting remains unshaken. She credited her late husband for encouraging her resilience during moments of self-doubt.
Hina emphasized the importance of creative expression within boundaries, urging artists to research and communicate gracefully. “Freedom without grace can become dangerous,” she concluded.
