Hindu Right-Wing Leader Opposes Atif Aslam's Bollywood Comeback

Once again, the issue of hostility towards Pakistani artists has emerged in India, this time targeting Atif Aslam’s reported comeback to Bollywood. Media reports from outlets such as Mid Day and India TV News indicate that the Maharashtra Navnirman Sena (MNS), led by Raj Thackeray, has issued a warning to Bollywood producers considering Aslam for their projects.

Ameya Khopkar, President of MNS Cinema Wing, reiterated the party’s staunch opposition to including Pakistani artists in Indian projects. Khopkar emphasized that individuals contemplating Aslam’s involvement should reconsider, asserting that Pakistani artists will not be tolerated in India.

Further solidifying MNS’s position, Khopkar challenged industries across India to abstain from engaging Pakistani artists, cautioning against accepting such a challenge. He also directed criticism towards singer Arijit Singh, reportedly supporting Aslam, urging all industries to adhere to MNS’s stance.

This development follows reports of Aslam’s selection to compose music for the film “Love Story of 90s,” produced by Sangani Brothers Motion Pictures and directed by Amit Kasaria. Haresh Sangani and Dharmesh Sangani, the producers, expressed their delight at Aslam’s return to Bollywood after a seven-year hiatus. They announced Aslam’s involvement in their film, stating that he has lent his voice to the movie’s initial song, anticipating a warm reception from fans.
