Maria B Criticizes Aurat March Protest, Labels It “Unsuccessful”

Maria B, one of Pakistan’s leading fashion designers and entrepreneurs, has responded to the recent protest organised by the Aurat March Lahore on February 12. The protest, which took place in celebration of Pakistan’s National Women’s Day, saw demonstrators march from the Press Club to Faletti’s Hotel, with placards that specifically targeted Maria B and former actress Mishi Khan.

In her reply, Maria B dismissed the protest, referring to it as the “Qaum e Lout March” and the “Unsuccessful Women’s March.” She claimed that the majority of Pakistanis had already rejected such movements and expressed disappointment at the actions of the protestors. Maria B further suggested that the organisers of the march were driven by external funding and hidden agendas.

Maria B emphasized her belief that most Pakistani women aspire to live according to Islamic teachings, working hard to achieve success and independence to support their families. She contrasted these women with those she perceives as aligning with what she sees as a controversial and unsuccessful movement.

Her comments have stirred further debate, with Maria continuing to advocate for women who seek to contribute meaningfully to their families, distancing herself from the messages put forth by the Aurat March protest.
