Rahat Fateh Ali Khan and Agent Win $2.2 Million Defamation Case in California's Top Court

In California’s Supreme Court, a $2.2 million defamation case involving Pakistani singer Rahat Fateh Ali Khan’s former international promoter and arts agent, Salman Ahmed, has been resolved in their favor.

The case revolved around allegations of defamation, economic duress, and extortion brought by a California-based show promoter, Bikramjeet Singh, and his company, Bollywood Events LLC, against Ahmed and Rahat.

California Superior Court judge Carrie A. Zepeda ruled that Ahmed had conducted his dealings honestly, and Singh failed to prove his claims of extortion, economic duress, and defamation. The court found that Singh was obligated to pay the full contract amount, and Ahmed was not in a position to alter the contract terms.

The court also determined that Ahmed’s statement about the delay in the concert’s start was true and did not defame Singh.

Ahmed expressed his gratitude for the court’s decision, stating that the case was an attempt to damage Rahat Fateh Ali Khan’s reputation and cause financial harm. He emphasized the importance of truth prevailing and reaffirmed their credibility.
