Indian filmmaker Rajkumar Hirani has exciting news for fans of the Munna Bhai franchise: he is set to revive the beloved series with Sanjay Dutt reprising his iconic role. Hirani revealed that he has five half-finished scripts for the next installment, including titles like Munna Bhai LLB, Munna Bhai Chal Base, and Munna Bhai Chale Amreeka. However, he emphasized the need for the upcoming film to surpass its predecessors in quality and impact.
The director shared his struggle in crafting a unique storyline, stating, “I spent six months on a script, reached the interval, and it just wouldn’t go beyond that.” He acknowledged the challenge of finding fresh narratives, noting, “Over the course of 100 years of cinema, everything has been said.” Nonetheless, Hirani remains optimistic, confirming he is actively working on a compelling idea for the film.

Hirani also mentioned Sanjay Dutt’s eagerness to revisit the character, humorously noting that the actor might “come home and threaten” him if the project doesn’t progress. The director prioritizes this film, underscoring Dutt’s enthusiasm as a driving force behind the project.
The third film was initially titled Munna Bhai Chale America but was shelved during Dutt’s conviction and imprisonment. Hirani is now focused on creating a memorable experience for audiences, building upon the success of the previous films, Munna Bhai MBBS (2003) and Lage Raho Munna Bhai (2006). Known for hits like 3 Idiots, PK, Sanju, and Dunki, the director is committed to ensuring quality in this much-anticipated sequel.
