Suniel Shetty Recalls Being Rescued by a Pakistani Man After 9/11

Bollywood actor Suniel Shetty recently shared a terrifying experience from 2001, when he was mistakenly detained in the U.S. after the 9/11 attacks. A Pakistani hotel manager played a key role in saving him from the situation.

Shetty was in Los Angeles filming Kaante when the incident occurred. Returning to his hotel, he asked a fellow elevator passenger if they had a key, as he had forgotten his. The American man misinterpreted the request, panicked, and reported him to the police.

Within minutes, armed officers surrounded Shetty, forcing him to kneel and handcuffing him. He was in shock and unable to comprehend what was happening. Fortunately, a Pakistani-origin hotel manager intervened, explaining Shetty’s identity to the police.

Shetty credited the manager for his quick thinking, saying he might not have escaped so easily without his help. The incident left a lasting impact on him, reinforcing his belief that humanity transcends borders.
