In a fiery act of protest, a disgruntled man set fire to his motorcycle outside the Karachi Press Club, alleging police misconduct.

The individual, employed by an online ride-hailing service, accused the police of subjecting him to torture and falsely branding him as a drug addict. He claimed that during this alleged mistreatment, the police officers confiscated his cash, bike documents, and cellphone.

Meanwhile, police officials reported that the citizen had engaged in a dispute with someone near Cantt Station just before contacting the police hotline.

The department has initiated an investigation into the matter, aiming to shed light on the circumstances.

Amid this incident, growing frustration stemming from relentless inflation is evident. In a tragic illustration of the dire living conditions faced by impoverished communities, a 50-year-old woman named Naseema resorted to self-immolation in public.

She was unable to bear the distress caused by hunger and the desperate plea for financial assistance from relatives and neighbors.

Naseema and her husband, both unemployed for the past five months, were residing in a rented house in Orangi Town. They had amassed significant debts, including overdue rent, unpaid grocery bills, and loans from neighbors.

The situation had become so dire that Naseema felt compelled to end her life in a painful and tragic manner, highlighting the stark contrast between the hardships faced by the marginalized population and the opulent lifestyles of the ruling class.
