Matthew Hayden Attributes Team Discipline to the Influence of Islam, Former Australian cricketer expressed his admiration for the discipline displayed by the Pakistani cricket team during a commentary session on Tuesday. Hayden, who was providing commentary for the Pakistan-Australia ICC World Cup 2023 warm-up match in Hyderabad, attributed this discipline to the central role of Islam in the team’s culture and way of life.

Hayden highlighted that the principles of Islam, such as commitment, investment, and consistency, mirror the qualities required in cricket. He acknowledged the importance of discipline in the sport and commended the Pakistani team for embodying these values.

In the high-scoring warm-up match, Australia emerged victorious, defeating Pakistan by 14 runs. Despite outstanding performances from skipper Babar Azam and Iftikhar Ahmed, Pakistan suffered their second consecutive loss in the warm-up matches.

Looking ahead, Pakistan is set to face the Netherlands at the same venue on October 6 in their first official World Cup game, while Australia will travel to Chennai to play against India on October 8.

The ICC World Cup 2023 is scheduled to take place in India, featuring 10 teams competing for the coveted title across 10 different venues. The tournament will run from October 5 to November 19, with the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad hosting both the opening match and the final.

The Cricket World Cup will follow a round-robin format, with all participating teams facing each other in 45 league matches. The top four teams will progress to the semifinals, slated for November 15 in Mumbai and November 16 in Kolkata, with reserve days allocated for these crucial knockout matches.
