Meta's Ad-Free Instagram and Facebook: $20 Monthly Cost Revealed

Meta, the parent company of Facebook and Instagram, has introduced ad-free subscription plans for users in the region. This move allows users to choose an ad-free experience, marking a departure from the conventional ad-supported model.

This decision by Meta is prompted by increased scrutiny over its services in Europe, primarily driven by the implementation of new EU privacy regulations. The platform’s response aims to offer users greater control over their experience amid privacy concerns.

Users now have the option to choose a paid ad-free subscription plan, providing an experience free from targeted advertisements. However, this choice comes with a price, requiring users to pay around $20 per month for the ad-free subscription. The fee is €9.99 per month when purchased on the web or €12.99 per month through Google’s or Apple’s app stores. Notably, the subscription fee covers all linked accounts for a cohesive ad-free experience.

Commencing from March 1, subscribers may face additional charges for any extra linked profiles within their Meta Account Center. The supplementary fee amounts to €6 per month if purchased directly and €8 per month when acquired through an app store. This approach encourages users to assess their linked profiles and make informed decisions based on their subscription needs.

It’s crucial to highlight that the ad-free service is restricted to users aged 18 and above, reflecting a responsible approach to its implementation. Meta’s introduction of ad-free subscription plans demonstrates its adaptability to evolving privacy regulations and user preferences, aligning its services with the growing demand for customizable and privacy-conscious options.
