Surge in Demand for Copies of the Holy Quran

As the holy month of Ramadan begins, the demand for copies of the Holy Quran surges significantly in Karachi. This increase is driven by various factors, including the tradition of daily recitation during Ramadan, the practice of distributing copies in mosques and madaris for esal-e-sawab, and the gifting of Quran copies to friends and family as Ramadan presents.

Notably, there is a growing interest in learning the Quran among both youth and elderly individuals, leading to an increased demand for versions aiding correct pronunciation (Tajweed) and translations with commentary (tafseer). Private institutions have responded to these trends by introducing various digital and non-digital versions of the Holy Quran, catering to different preferences and needs.

For example, there are Tajweedi Quran editions with 15 or 16 lines per page, designed to facilitate recitation with proper pronunciation. Additionally, there are sets with full laminated coating, large-print editions for the elderly, and versions featuring translations in multiple languages and audio recitations.

During Ramadan, special editions such as Manzil, containing different surahs or manazil, are also popular among worshippers seeking additional rewards through recitation. Sets containing Surah Yasin, Punj Surah, Noorani Qaida, and easy prayers are favored choices for households.

Moreover, publishing houses offer Quran editions tailored for children, such as “The Tracing Quran,” which includes 42 Surahs and allows for handwritten notes. Pocket-size Siparahs are available for travelers during Ramadan, catering to the needs of those on the move.  Overall, the demand for copies of the Holy Quran during Ramadan reflects the community’s commitment to spiritual growth and devotion during this blessed month.
