Turkish Aerospace Industries launched the ambitious KAAN project in 2016, with the goal of delivering superior fighter jets to the Turkish Air Forces Command by 2028.
The aircraft, which has a wingspan of about 21 meters (about 69 feet), has outstanding performance capabilities, capable of achieving a maximum speed of Mach 1.8 (2,222 kph) thanks to its twin engines, each of which generates a thrust of 29,000 pounds (13,000 kilograms)
The KAAN has an equally amazing set of capabilities, including enhanced situational awareness, improved pilot workload, combat damage detection, cutting-edge mission systems, reduced observability, precision strikes, and an internal armament bay.
TAI painstakingly built the KAAN as a fifth-generation aircraft with the primary goal of replacing the Turkish army’s old F-16 fleet, demonstrating Turkey’s commitment to improving its aerial defense capabilities.
