Pakistan Army Reveals Locally-Manufactured Anti-Tank Vehicle 'MAAZ'

The introduction of the domestically-produced MAAZ anti-tank vehicle marks a significant milestone for Pakistan’s military strength. Developed by Heavy Industries Taxila (HIT), the MAAZ represents a fusion of engineering expertise and strategic design, tailored to tackle formidable armored threats on the battlefield.

Compact yet agile, the MAAZ boasts sophisticated capabilities housed within its compact frame. Powered by a 275 horsepower diesel engine, it can achieve impressive speeds and maneuver through diverse terrains with ease. Its fully tracked drive system enhances off-road capabilities, while a range of approximately 500 kilometers ensures extended mission deployments.

Technologically advanced, the MAAZ integrates cutting-edge systems to enhance combat effectiveness. Equipped with an automated fire control system and night vision capabilities, it ensures precision aiming and seamless operations in various conditions. A state-of-the-art communication system facilitates efficient coordination with allied units.

Armed with the potent Baktar-Shikan anti-tank guided missile system, the MAAZ packs a formidable punch against armored vehicles and fortified bunkers. Complemented by a 12.7mm machine gun for close-quarters combat, it offers versatility in engaging different targets.

The Baktar-Shikan missile system, a localized adaptation of China’s HJ-8, features a tandem-charge High-Explosive Anti-Tank (HEAT) missile designed to penetrate reactive armor commonly found on modern tanks. With an operational range of 100 to 3000 meters, it poses a formidable threat to armored targets, guided by a Semi-Automatic Command to Line of Sight (SACLOS) system for precise targeting.

Overall, the introduction of the MAAZ anti-tank vehicle reinforces Pakistan’s military capabilities, providing a potent asset for combat operations and bolstering national defense.
