Pakistan is currently experiencing a severe heatwave, prompting the issuance of alerts

The ongoing heatwave in Pakistan has prompted warnings from the Meteorological Department for several regions, including Umarkot, Larkana, Rahim Yar Khan, Bahawalpur, Sukkur, Naudero, Nawabshah, and Multan. The plains of Sindh and Punjab are expected to experience temperatures 4 to 6 degrees Celsius above normal, with Islamabad and adjacent areas also facing extremely hot and dry conditions.

In response to the situation, the Provincial Disaster Management Authority (PDMA) of Punjab has issued an alert for the province, including Lahore. Special measures are being implemented to mitigate the impact of the heatwave, with heatwave counters established at Mayo Hospital and General Hospital in Lahore. These counters provide information on precautionary measures to help the public cope with the high temperatures, and hospitals are fully prepared to handle any cases of heat-related illnesses.

Similar temperature anomalies are anticipated in other parts of the country during the same period.
