5.5 Magnitude Earthquake Rocks Balochistan, Injures Three and Destroys Homes

A powerful 5.5 magnitude earthquake struck Balochistan’s Musa Khel district on Saturday, injuring at least three people and causing damage to several homes. The tremors, which were felt across the region, sparked panic among residents.

According to the Earthquake Monitoring Centre, the quake’s epicentre was located 56 kilometres northeast of Musa Khel at a depth of 28 kilometres. Two houses were completely destroyed while three others were partially damaged due to the impact.

Rescue officials confirmed that three individuals sustained injuries from falling debris, though the injuries were fortunately minor. The Provincial Disaster Management Authority (PDMA) has launched immediate relief efforts, including the distribution of tents to those displaced.

Meanwhile, a separate 3.9 magnitude tremor was recorded in Balochistan’s Barkhan district earlier. No damage or casualties were reported from that quake, which originated 59 kilometres northwest of Barkhan at a depth of 12 kilometres.
