The federal government has approved the deployment of Pakistan Army personnel across the country to support civil administrations in maintaining security during the holy month of Muharram. A notification issued by the Ministry of Interior confirmed that the decision was made in response to requests from all provincial governments, including Gilgit-Baltistan, Azad Jammu and Kashmir, and Islamabad.
The deployment is intended to assist local authorities based on the security needs of each area. With Muharram considered a sensitive time due to large religious gatherings and processions, officials say the move aims to uphold peace and ensure the safety of the public.

In a related step, the Punjab government has enforced Section 144 throughout the province from June 27 to July 6. Under this restriction, only pre-approved processions and majalis will be allowed. New events or any changes to existing ones will require prior approval from relevant authorities.
Additionally, the display of weapons, flammable items, and use of provocative language—whether spoken, written, or online—has been strictly prohibited. The government has urged citizens to respect religious sentiments and maintain harmony throughout the period of observance.
