In a historic moment at the Paris Olympics 2024, Pakistan’s javelin star Arshad Nadeem achieved a monumental feat by winning the gold medal and breaking a 118-year-old Olympic record.
Nadeem’s record-breaking throw of 92.97 meters not only secured his top position but also surpassed the previous Olympic record set at the Beijing 2008 Games.
Facing fierce competition from athletes across 12 nations, Nadeem’s journey to victory began with a challenging first round. He, along with India’s Neeraj Chopra, struggled initially. Nadeem’s first throws were unsuccessful, and Chopra’s attempt was disqualified due to a foot fault. Grenada’s Anderson Peters took an early lead with a throw of 87.87 meters.
