The province of Balochistan is witnessing a rise in terror attacks, with passengers traveling in public transport facing higher security risks. In response, the provincial government has announced a night-time ban on the movement of public transport vehicles.
According to the decision, no public transport will be allowed to operate on highways between 5:00 pm and 5:00 am. The move is aimed at protecting lives and preventing possible attacks during late hours.
Authorities have warned that any transport company violating the ban will face strict action, including cancellation of route permits. The decision was made during a meeting chaired by Provincial Transport Secretary Muhammad Hayat Kakar, with representatives of transporters’ associations also present.
The Balochistan Home Department has directed all Deputy Commissioners to strictly enforce the restriction and take necessary steps to ensure compliance. Transport companies have also been instructed to install GPS trackers in their vehicles, deploy security guards, and follow the government’s anti-smuggling measures.
Officials say the new policy is not only about preventing terrorist incidents but also about curbing other illegal activities that often take place during night travel. The ban is part of a broader effort to enhance safety standards and protect travelers in the province.
Transporters have been assured that the government will work with them to address any operational challenges caused by the night travel restrictions.
Security experts believe that such measures, combined with better surveillance, can significantly reduce the risk of attacks and improve public safety in Balochistan.
