A delegation from the UK Department for Transport and the Civil Aviation Authority (CAA) has arrived in Pakistan to evaluate the country’s aviation safety standards. The visit is a key step in restoring flight operations between Pakistan and the UK, which were previously suspended.
Hosted by Pakistan’s Civil Aviation Authority (PCAA), led by Director-General Nadir Shafi Dar, the British delegation will assess safety protocols, review documents, and examine operational procedures. The evaluation includes a series of high-level meetings between both sides, aimed at ensuring that Pakistani airlines meet international safety standards.

In addition to discussions with PCAA officials, the delegation will visit local airlines to review their compliance with global aviation safety regulations. Over recent months, PCAA has been engaged in technical talks with UK authorities in preparation for this important audit.
The PCAA is optimistic about the potential outcomes of the visit, with Director-General Nadir Shafi Dar expressing readiness for the audit, which will take place from January 27 to February 6, 2025. The visit is seen as a pivotal moment for the resumption of flights between the two countries.
Meanwhile, Pakistan International Airlines (PIA) recently marked a significant milestone by launching international flight operations from the New Gwadar International Airport. The inaugural flight, PK-197, departed for Muscat, Oman, carrying 39 passengers, as part of a weekly service on the Gwadar-Muscat route.
