Bus Plunges into Ditch, 4 Dead, 14 Injured

A passenger bus traveling from Islamabad to Quetta plunged into a deep ditch in Balochistan’s Sherani district due to speeding, killing four passengers and injuring 14 others. Sherani Deputy Commissioner Sana Mahjabeen Umrani confirmed that the accident occurred in the Danasar area of the Zhob hill range. The injured, including women and children, were treated at Trauma Center Zhob and later referred to hospitals in Quetta.

Balochistan Chief Minister Mir Sarfraz Bugti expressed sorrow over the loss of lives and ordered an investigation. He warned that action would be taken against the bus company if negligence was found and instructed the Regional Transport Authority (RTA) to cancel the permits of companies violating safety rules. He also assured that the injured would receive necessary medical care.

The Trauma Centre Quetta spokesman confirmed that the seven injured passengers brought to the center were stable. Road accidents in the region are frequent, as demonstrated by a similar incident last month when 11 people died and 35 were injured after a bus overturned on the Makran coastal highway due to speeding.

Earlier in May, another tragic bus accident in Balochistan’s Washuk district claimed 28 lives and injured 22 others when a bus crashed into a hill and plunged into a ravine. The crash was caused by a tire burst, and among the deceased were women and children.
