Chief of Army Staff Gives Statement on Jaranwal Incident

Speaking to participants of the annual internship program at General Headquarters, Chief of Army Staff General Asim Munir expressed deep sorrow and indignation regarding the distressing incident in Jaranwala. He emphasized that individuals exhibiting such behaviors have no place in our society. The COAS asserted that there is no tolerance for such instances of intolerance and extreme actions against minority groups.

General Munir highlighted the principle of equality among citizens regardless of their religion, gender, caste, or creed. He underlined that no one will be permitted to take the law into their own hands, ensuring that those responsible for such acts will face legal consequences.

Over 370 students from various Pakistani universities participated in the internship program. The COAS emphasized the pivotal role of youth in the nation’s development and their potential to contribute to peace, progress, and prosperity.

General Munir exposed the hostile efforts of external forces aiming to sow chaos and turmoil within the country. He applauded the youth for their ability to distinguish between truth, misinformation, and deception.

Furthermore, the Army Chief commended the interns for their successful completion of the program. In response to the church burnings in Jaranwala, political leaders and civil society figures condemned the incident. Caretaker Prime Minister Anwaar ul Haq Kakar strongly condemned the acts and promised strict action against the violators, assuring that Pakistan stands in solidarity with its citizens.
