Coal Mine Tragedy Claims Two Lives in Darra Adam Khel

In another devastating accident, two coal mine workers from the Shangla district lost their lives in Darra Adam Khel. The victims, Rehman Ali and Sarbali Khan, both hailed from the Dherai and Puran areas of Shangla. Their bodies were laid to rest in their native villages on Sunday, as yet another tragic incident underscored the growing danger faced by miners in the region.

These fatal accidents in the coal mines have become all too frequent, yet they fail to garner significant attention from local authorities. Despite the repeated loss of lives, the lack of employment opportunities forces many families to send their children into these hazardous mines, with little hope of a safer future. Education and better prospects remain out of reach for most, making coal mining one of the few available options for survival.

Local residents have expressed frustration with their elected representatives, accusing them of neglect and failing to address the serious risks faced by workers. They feel that the members of the assembly from Shangla are more focused on political blame games rather than taking meaningful action to prevent such tragedies.

The residents lamented that officials offer emotional speeches and financial aid to victims’ families but fall short of taking concrete steps to improve mine safety or create alternative employment opportunities. Until proper attention is given to the issue, they fear that the cycle of deaths will continue unabated.
