In a shocking incident, a crypto trader named Arsalan from North Karachi was abducted and robbed of Rs 90 million on the night of December 25. Arsalan was forcibly taken from his office in Manghopir by five individuals in a police mobile, who were dressed in plain clothes and claimed to be police officers.
The perpetrators transferred $340,000 (worth over Rs 90 million) from Arsalan’s account to various others using his phone. They blindfolded him and took him to the Passport Office in Saddar, where they threatened him at gunpoint. In addition to stealing his mobile phone, resetting it, and emptying his wallet of Rs 8,000, they abandoned him near Mazar-e-Quaid.

Arsalan has named four suspects—Muzzamil, Hamad, Ashir, and Zaman—along with one unidentified individual in his report. He claims the suspects had approached him for cryptocurrency transactions in the past, but he had refused to engage with them.
The police have registered a case under Section 365-A (Kidnapping for ransom) and Section 34 (Common intention) and transferred the investigation to the Anti-Violent Crime Cell (AVCC). Surveillance footage from the housing society’s main gate reportedly shows the police mobile involved in the crime entering the premises during the time of the incident.
Authorities have collected evidence regarding the police mobile and officers involved, and investigators are mapping out the route taken by the suspects for further inquiry. The case continues to unfold as more details emerge about the involvement of rogue elements within law enforcement.
