Dar Urges Unified Strategy to Counter Proxy War and Terrorism

Deputy Prime Minister Ishaq Dar has called for the urgent formation of a comprehensive strategy to eliminate terrorism and counter India’s alleged proxy war against Pakistan. Addressing a Senate session, Dar condemned the recent attack on schoolchildren in Khuzdar as a cowardly act and urged national unity to defeat terrorism in all its forms.

He proposed the formation of a special committee comprising key ministries such as Interior, Foreign Affairs, and Defence to outline a clear roadmap to combat terrorism. Dar criticised past policies that, according to him, enabled tens of thousands of militants to cross into Pakistan and blamed executive decisions for releasing certain criminals.

Highlighting Pakistan’s contributions to global peacekeeping, Dar noted the role of Pakistani forces in stabilising African nations like Rwanda and Ivory Coast. He stressed the importance of building on international goodwill while also addressing regional threats.

The deputy prime minister emphasized that terrorism remains a central issue in Pakistan’s bilateral discussions, including his recent talks in China. He urged for a national consensus and coordinated efforts to ensure long-term peace and security in the country.
