Deepfake AI Nudes Created in Telegram Are Flooding The Internet

Deepfake

A recent investigation by Wired magazine has shed light on a troubling trend involving artificial intelligence on the messaging platform Telegram. The report reveals that numerous AI-powered chatbots are capable of generating explicit deepfake images of real individuals, raising significant concerns about privacy and consent.

Wired estimates that around 4 million users per month are utilizing these services offered by approximately 50 different chatbots. These AI tools can perform a range of functions, from digitally removing clothing from existing photos to creating entirely fabricated explicit images. Some chatbots even claim to manipulate “anything you want about the face or clothes of the photo you give me,” showcasing the sophisticated technology behind these deepfakes. The alarming ease with which these images can be produced—reportedly with just “a couple clicks”—has drawn the attention of experts who warn of potential nightmarish scenarios.

Henry Ajder, one of the first to uncover these activities, expressed his concerns about the implications of such technology. When Wired approached Telegram regarding the presence of these explicit chatbots, the platform remained silent, offering no official comment. However, following the inquiry, the bots and their associated channels were swiftly removed from the platform.

Despite this apparent crackdown, the creators of these AI-powered services are undeterred. They have boldly stated their intention to “make another bot” the very next day, indicating a persistent issue that poses serious ethical and legal challenges.
