At least eight people, including three women and four children, lost their lives when a passenger vehicle plunged into a ravine along the Karakoram Highway in Lower Kohistan district of Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa. The accident occurred near the Mita Banda area, notorious for its narrow and hazardous roads.
Rescue officials said the vehicle was traveling from Rawalpindi to Gilgit when the driver lost control, sending it into a deep gorge near the Indus River. Local residents assisted rescue teams in recovering the victims, who were later identified as Asif Iqbal of Rawalpindi, his wife Memona Iqbal, their four children, and two relatives—Aisha Siddique and Bushra Waseem.
