Eight Pakistani Mechanics Shot Dead in Iran's Sistan Province

In a horrifying act of violence, eight Pakistani nationals were brutally shot dead in Iran’s Sistan province near the Pakistan-Iran border. The victims, all skilled motor mechanics from Bahawalpur, were employed at a local workshop that specialised in painting, polishing, and vehicle repairs.

The deceased have been identified as Dilshad, his son Naeem, Jaffer, Danish, Nasir, and others whose names have not yet been publicly confirmed.

According to local sources, unidentified gunmen stormed the workshop during the night, bound the victims’ hands, and executed them at close range. Iranian security forces have sealed off the area and launched an investigation. The motive behind the attack remains unclear, but early reports suggest the involvement of an anti-Pakistan terrorist group. No arrests have been made so far.

This incident echoes a similar tragedy from January 2024, when nine Pakistani labourers were killed in the same region under eerily similar circumstances.

Pakistan’s Embassy in Tehran has dispatched officials to the scene to assist in identifying the victims and coordinate with Iranian authorities. A spokesperson for the embassy stated that efforts are underway to ensure a thorough investigation and that justice will be pursued for the victims and their grieving families.

The recurring targeting of Pakistani workers in Iran’s border provinces has raised serious concerns over their safety. Families in Bahawalpur are left devastated, awaiting the return of their loved ones’ bodies and answers that may take time to arrive.
