Father Allegedly Poisons Children, Takes Own Life After Failing to Buy Eid Clothes

A deeply distressing incident occurred in Sardar Garh Basti Haji Pir, Rahim Yar Khan, where a father allegedly poisoned his three children before taking his own life. The tragic act is believed to have been driven by extreme financial distress, particularly his inability to buy clothes for his children ahead of Eid.

According to local sources, the man, a jobless tractor-trolley driver, had been facing severe economic hardships for several days. Overwhelmed by poverty and feelings of helplessness, he reportedly made the horrifying decision to end his and his children’s lives.

Two of the children and the father were found dead, while the third child—a young daughter—miraculously survived and is currently undergoing treatment at a local hospital. Doctors say she is in critical condition but receiving the best possible care.

Neighbors and local residents have expressed deep sorrow and shock over the incident. Many have highlighted the increasing pressure on low-income families due to inflation and joblessness, especially around festive seasons when expectations run high and basic necessities become unaffordable luxuries.

Authorities have launched an investigation into the incident. Police are recording statements from relatives and neighbors to piece together the full details of the tragedy.

This heartbreaking event has sparked conversations about the lack of mental health support and financial assistance for struggling families in Pakistan. Social activists have urged the government to take immediate action to address the growing despair among the working class and to ensure that no parent ever feels compelled to take such a devastating step.
