Fresh Earthquake Tremors Jolt Karachi On Eid’s Second Day

Karachi experienced another wave of mild earthquake tremors early Sunday morning, coinciding with the second day of Eid-ul-Azha. The latest quake, which struck at 3:35 AM, had a magnitude of 3.5 on the Richter scale and was felt in the Malir area, causing concern among residents.

According to the Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD), the epicentre was located approximately four kilometres southeast of Malir, with a depth of 40 kilometres. No casualties or damage were reported, but the tremors added to growing unease in the city.

Earlier the same morning, another minor quake measuring 2.0 magnitude was recorded at 7:54 AM, with its epicentre roughly 11 kilometres northeast of Malir. These back-to-back tremors have heightened public awareness of seismic activity in the region.

Since the start of June, the Seismic Monitoring Centre has recorded a total of 29 tremors in and around Karachi, pointing to an unusual pattern of seismic activity that experts are closely monitoring.
