Gas Cylinder Blast in Mardan Claims Six Lives from Same Family

A heartbreaking incident struck Mardan’s Irum Colony late Friday night when a gas cylinder blast caused a two-storey house to collapse, claiming the lives of six family members and injuring two others, as reported by rescue authorities.

The explosion occurred around midnight, demolishing the upper portion of the house and trapping the residents under the rubble. Rescue 1122 teams quickly responded to the emergency and carried out a challenging search and rescue operation.

According to officials, eight people were retrieved from the debris—six of them were found dead, while two sustained injuries. All victims were transported to a nearby hospital for immediate medical attention.

A Rescue 1122 spokesperson confirmed that all six deceased were from the same family. Preliminary findings suggest the blast was caused by a gas leak that built up inside the home overnight.
