Government To Offer Rs2 Million For Each House Burnt In Jaranwala

The Punjab government has pledged to offer Rs2 million as compensation to each family affected by the recent violence in Jaranwala within the Christian community. This announcement was made during a visit by the caretaker provincial cabinet to the Association of Evangelical Churches in Jaranwala. In an unprecedented move, Caretaker Chief Minister Mohsin Naqvi presided over a cabinet meeting at the church to demonstrate solidarity with the community. The cabinet unanimously approved financial assistance of Rs2 million for each family whose houses were set ablaze. Naqvi assured that the compensation cheques would be delivered to the affected individuals within 48 hours.

During the visit, it was revealed that two churches in Jaranwala had been fully restored and were now open for worship, while efforts were underway to restore other churches with community consent. A special prayer was offered for the well-being of the people, national unity, and prosperity. Caretaker Chief Minister Naqvi assured the community of justice and praised the restoration of two churches to their original condition.

The caretaker ministers also visited a relief camp set up for the affected families at Danish School in Jaranwala. Naqvi personally met with the families, offered condolences, and assured them of justice while addressing their concerns. Subsequently, the caretaker CM visited Jamia Masjid Sabri in Jaranwala to meet with the peace committee members, religious scholars, and local leaders. He commended the peace committee’s efforts in maintaining calm after the incident.
