GOVT requested a 50% rise in gas prices.

Ogra requested that the average sale rate for SNGPL be increased by 50%, or Rs415 per unit (million British thermal units), to Rs1,239 per unit, with effect from July 1, 2023, in accordance with two distinct findings concerning the income requirements of the two firms. The regulator also calculated a 45 percent rise in SSGCL’s average petrol prices, which came out to Rs1,351 a unit, or an increase of Rs417 per unit.

According to the Ogra judgement, SNGPL will get an additional Rs121 billion in funding for the following fiscal year, while SSGCL would receive an additional Rs105 billion. In accordance with Section 8(3) of the Ogra statute, the regulator reported that both decisions had been forwarded to the federal government for receipt of category-specific natural gas selling price advice.
