Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has formed a high-level committee under his leadership to fast-track Pakistan’s transition to a cashless, digital economy.
Meeting weekly, the committee will monitor the progress of digitization efforts, many of which are already reflected in the latest federal budget. The PM said digital payments will help curb the informal economy and boost transparency.

He also highlighted the use of digital wallets for distributing financial aid during Ramadan as a successful example of tech-driven governance.
