Grenade Blast in Lower Dir Junkyard Kills Two, Injures Three

A tragic hand grenade explosion in the Khal Market area of Lower Dir on Saturday claimed the lives of two individuals and injured three others, according to local police. The deadly incident occurred when a grenade, concealed among scrap items in a junkyard, detonated unexpectedly.

The blast resulted in the deaths of the junkyard’s owner and one of his employees, both of whom were on-site at the time. The explosion also injured three passersby, who were rushed to the District Headquarters Hospital. Rescue officials confirmed their condition to be stable.

Following the incident, law enforcement agencies quickly cordoned off the area and launched an investigation to determine how the explosive ended up in the junkyard. Authorities are also looking into the possibility of other unexploded devices in the vicinity.

The incident has raised concerns over the presence of unexploded ordnance in civilian areas, especially in places handling scrap and discarded military items.
