The Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD) has forecast wind and thunderstorm rain, along with isolated hailstorms, in the upper and central regions of the country from May 1 to May 4, 2025. This weather system is expected to provide relief from the ongoing heatwave in several areas.
The affected regions include Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, upper and central Punjab, Islamabad, Gilgit-Baltistan, and Kashmir. The PMD warns of heavy rainfall in parts of upper Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Islamabad, Kashmir, and nearby hilly areas.

The rainfall could lead to flash floods in local streams and nullahs in regions like Dir, Swat, Chitral, Mansehra, Kohistan, and Kashmir. There is also a risk of landslides in vulnerable areas such as upper Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Murree, Galliyat, Kashmir, and Gilgit-Baltistan.
Windstorms, hail, and lightning could endanger lives, crops, and structures such as electric poles, vehicles, and solar panels. The PMD has advised the public and farmers to take necessary precautions during this period.
