Heavy Rain and Strong Winds to Bring Relief to Lahore and Punjab Today

The Pakistan Meteorological Department has forecasted rain accompanied by strong winds for Lahore and other districts in Punjab today, May 28.

Yesterday, the rain and strong winds brought relief to Punjab residents by lowering the heat, which had been intense. The Met Office warns that similar weather conditions are expected again today, with Lahore experiencing temperatures ranging from a low of 28°C to a high of 38°C.

In Peshawar, the storm caused damage by uprooting trees and harming solar panels and vehicles. Attock faced rain with thunderstorms and strong winds, while a cloudburst in Muzaffarabad resulted in three fatalities and damage to several homes and a mosque.

Thunderstorms and rain are predicted to continue from today through May 31 across Islamabad, Punjab, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP), Kashmir, and Gilgit-Baltistan.

Landslides have blocked the Neelum Highway at eight locations, and rain-induced landslides in Chilas have obstructed the Karakoram Highway in Diamer and Lower Kohistan.

In KP, hailstorms and heavy rains have caused flooding in streams and rivers, leading to three deaths and injuries to seven others in various incidents.
