Prominent journalist Azaz Syed has revealed that a tracking device was secretly installed in his car. He shared the shocking discovery on X (formerly Twitter), stating that his mechanic found the device while fitting new number plates. Azaz expressed concerns about being monitored without his knowledge.
In his post, Azaz wrote, “While my mechanic was installing new number plates on my vehicle, a device that had been secretly installed to track my movements was discovered.” This incident raises serious questions about privacy and surveillance.
This is not the first instance of Azaz facing surveillance; he has previously reported being tracked by Pakistan’s intelligence agency, the ISI. Azaz suggested that this latest incident could be the work of a state agency, emphasizing the troubling trend of targeting journalists instead of addressing real threats.
He urged policymakers to reconsider their priorities, calling it deplorable that agencies focus on monitoring journalists rather than pursuing terrorists.
