According to the Islamabad Inspector General’s office, the protests led to the damage of 441 Safe City cameras, several police vehicles, motorcycles, and private property. The report was submitted to the city’s chief commissioner, detailing the extensive losses.
Tragically, one policeman was killed during the protests, and 31 others were injured while trying to contain the unrest. Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has since pledged to prevent such violent protests from happening again, stressing the need for maintaining law and order.
The protests have raised concerns about political unrest and the heavy toll it takes on both the country’s infrastructure and public safety.
